Pick the right extension
.com is still the best-known address worldwide and the safe choice when your audience is international, from €12.09 a year. For a project aimed at several European countries, .eu (€6.28 a year) shows right away where you are: EU citizens and residents, and organizations based in the EU or the European Economic Area, can register it.
Targeting one country? Its own extension, like .de for Germany, .fr for France or .be for Belgium, builds instant trust with local visitors. And compare renewal prices, not intro offers: many registrars sell a cheap first year and charge several times more afterwards. With us, the price shown is the renewal price.
Transfer your domain: auth code and DNS
For a transfer you need your domain’s auth code from your current registrar, also called EPP code (for .de: AuthInfo). Generic extensions like .com must also be unlocked, with no transfer lock. Start the transfer in the client area with the domain and the code, and we handle the rest with our accredited registrar partner.
Transfer time depends on the extension: a .de domain usually moves quickly once the AuthInfo is valid, while .com and other generic extensions can take up to five days, because the previous registrar has that long to confirm. Within 60 days of a registration or a previous transfer, these extensions are usually locked.
Important for website and email: a transfer changes the registrar, not automatically the name servers. Copy all records, especially A, AAAA, MX and TXT, to the new zone first, and cancel your old contract only once the transfer is complete.
DNS management, web hosting and email
Your domain is the address, your hosting is where website and mailboxes live, and they do not have to be with the same provider. In the client area you edit A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and SRV records yourself, instantly and with no fee for changes.
With domain and web hosting both at UnioHost it gets even simpler: website and email records come prepared, and Plesk sets up the Let’s Encrypt certificate as soon as the domain points to the server. Add SPF, DKIM and DMARC for reliable email delivery.
Domain FAQ
How do I register a domain?
Type the name you want into the search box on this page. It checks the spelling and opens the client area cart, which queries availability directly at the registry. If the domain is free, complete your order there. Registration goes through an accredited registrar partner.
Does the price also apply to renewals?
Yes. The price in the table applies to registration and to every renewal. There is no discounted first year followed by a much higher price. Prices differ by extension because every registry sets its own fees.
How do I transfer a domain to UnioHost?
Ask your current registrar for the auth code (EPP code, AuthInfo for .de) and remove the transfer lock on generic extensions like .com. Then start the transfer in the client area with the domain and code. A .de domain usually moves quickly, .com can take up to five days.
What happens to my website and email during a transfer?
The transfer changes the registrar, not automatically the name servers. Website and email keep running as long as your old name servers serve the zone. Copy all DNS records to the new zone beforehand and cancel the old contract only after the transfer, so there is no gap.
Do I need web hosting to register a domain?
No. You can register a domain on its own and point it to any server. You keep control of the name servers and all DNS records. When you later need a website or mailboxes, connect the domain to one of our web hosting plans.
What if I forget to renew my domain?
When a domain expires, the website and email on it usually stop working. Most extensions then have a grace period of around 30 days in which only the previous owner can restore the domain, for a restore fee. After that it is free for anyone. Watch for the reminder emails and renew in time.
